Steal an Egg Limited Eggs Reference
Complete reference for limited eggs in Steal an Egg, including Shop eggs, Rift mechanics, event drops, and index tracking.
Overview
Limited eggs in Steal an Egg operate outside the standard biome system and never spawn in normal nests. They are exclusively obtained through the in-game Store, the Rift Machine, or developer-triggered events, serving as the only way to hatch specific high-tier pets and complete the full collection index.
How Limited Eggs Work in Steal an Egg
Standard biome eggs reset every five minutes and follow fixed zone pools, but limited eggs sit entirely outside the 11 biome categories. They cannot be farmed through regular nest runs. Instead, they are distributed through three distinct channels: Robux purchases in the Store, the lobby-based Rift Machine, and time-sensitive or developer-manual events. Because they bypass normal spawn logic, limited eggs maintain separate hatch pools and are tracked independently in the pet index. Sources vary on exact counts, but limited-egg pets represent a substantial portion of the total roster, with some indexes listing over a third of all available pets as limited-egg only.
Shop-Only Limited Eggs: Brainrot and Monster
The Store sells two permanent limited eggs that contain pets which never appear in biome nests:
**Brainrot Egg** Purchased with Robux, this egg contains six pets with fixed hatch rates for the lower tiers: * Tung Tung Sahur (Rare, 39% hatch chance) * Bananita Dolphinita (Epic, 25% hatch chance) * Beluga Beluga (Mythic) * Mangolini Parrochini (Cosmic) * Bomboclat Crocolat (Secret) * Strawberry Elephant (Eternal)
IGN tracks the Rare and Epic Brainrot pets with unknown income rates. Availability status conflicts across sources: Eldorado lists the Brainrot pets as premium Shop-only options, while Eurogamer classifies them as expired limited-time drops. Check the in-game Store for current hatchability.
**Monster Egg** Also Robux-only, the Monster Egg holds six pets ranging from Legendary to Divine: * Scorpio (Legendary) * Froggo (Mythic) * Crawler (Cosmic) * Crocodon (Secret) * Krakenoid (Eternal, $50B index reward) * Dreadscale (Divine, $200B index reward, 0.5% normal hatch chance)
Every Monster pet has a Mecha variant. The Mecha Re-roll modifier triggers at a flat 1% chance regardless of the base pet's tier, allowing any of the six Monster pets to hatch as a Mecha version.
Rift Machine Eggs and Sacrifice Pools
Added in Update 3 on September 9, 2026, the Rift Machine provides a permanent lobby-based method to obtain limited eggs outside the Store. The mechanic requires sacrificing three requested pets, which are permanently consumed upon submission.
Sacrificing the correct trio awards one of three eggs based on fixed probabilities: * Riftborn Egg (45%) * Riftbeasts Egg (35%) * Shattered Rift Egg (20%)
Each egg hatches one of 15 exclusive Rift pets. The three egg banners rotate globally every three hours, and the requested sacrifice pets change with each rotation. This system creates a separate progression loop that does not interfere with biome grinding but requires strategic pet management due to the permanent loss mechanic.
Event-Limited Eggs and Index Tracking
Two event egg mechanics operate independently of standard resets: * **Admin Abuse eggs:** Manually triggered by developers during special maintenance or promotional windows. * **Infested eggs:** Spawn randomly during normal biome resets, but only while the Hungry Monster event is active.
Event-exclusive pets include the Drilla, which was awarded via a limited Drill Egg to the top three players in the Monster Obby during an Admin Abuse window. The Dragon event similarly distributes exclusive dragons like the Baby Aurora Dragon (Legendary, $5M/s) and Shadow Dragon (Mythic, $25M/s).
Limited-egg pets are tracked separately from biome pets in the index. Missing a limited egg's availability window can permanently gap a collection, as some pets are only obtainable through these restricted drops and windows can close without warning. Players aiming for a complete index should monitor active limited eggs and event announcements rather than relying on biome farming alone.
