Overview

Steal an Egg is a Roblox tycoon and pet-collection hybrid where players train their movement speed, raid guarded nests across multiple biomes, steal eggs, and carry them back to a base pen to hatch into pets. Once hatched, pets generate passive income that funds treadmill upgrades, base expansions, and trails. Progression hinges on balancing speed investment with egg value, managing guardian encounters, and navigating player interference. This guide outlines the core systems, biome requirements, and current update features to help you plan efficient runs and maximize pet income.

Core Loop & Base Progression

The game operates on a continuous fetch-and-farm cycle. You locate eggs in biome nests, pick them up, and sprint back to your base before guardians or other players intercept you. Carried eggs are placed in your pen, where they hatch into pets that automatically generate money per second. This income is reinvested into two primary upgrade paths: - **Treadmill:** Directly increases your movement speed. Upgrading the treadmill provides more training steps, making speed gains more efficient. The treadmill also includes a built-in Reels feature for scrolling, commenting on, and sharing short videos during training sessions. - **Base Pen:** Does not increase speed. Upgrading the base expands your pet storage capacity, allowing you to house more income-generating pets simultaneously.

Because speed dictates which biomes you can safely enter, early progression should prioritize treadmill upgrades over base expansion. Once you can access higher-tier biomes, the income spike from rare pets will naturally accelerate both speed and storage upgrades.

Biomes, Speed Checks & Guardians

The game features 11 distinct biomes (some sources list 10 due to differing update tracking). Each biome contains unique egg pools and a guardian that acts as a hard speed check. If your speed falls below the biome's threshold, the guardian can catch you, trigger a ragdoll effect, fling you away, and force you to drop any egg you are carrying.

Recommended speed floors per biome are as follows: - **Forest:** No minimum (starting area) - **Lake:** 900 - **Desert:** 10K - **Jungle:** 40K - **Snow:** 170K - **Volcano:** 700K - **Abyss Ocean:** 2.5M - **Prehistoric:** 17M–18M (sources vary slightly) - **Cosmic:** 700M - **Cherry Blossom:** 2.5B - **Titan Temple:** 7B

According to IGN's biome guide, these recommended speeds should be treated as minimum floors. In practice, clearing the recommended speed and doubling it significantly improves your chances of outrunning the guardian, though it does not guarantee safety from other players contesting the same eggs.

Egg Evaluation & Reset Mechanics

An egg's potential income is determined by two factors: size and rarity. Larger eggs carry a higher value multiplier, but they also add weight, reducing your carrying speed and making you an easier target for guardians and rival players. Egg colors are purely cosmetic and only affect the appearance of the egg and the pet it hatches; they do not influence income. The Fandom wiki advises evaluating eggs by their shape and size rather than their color palette.

Rarity tiers span from Common up to high-end tiers. Sources differ on the absolute top tier, with some listing Secret as the highest and others (including the Fandom wiki and Eldorado) listing a ten-tier system topped by Divine. Divine pets can generate between $1B and $3.5B per second, while Common pets range from $1 to $6 per second.

Eggs do not remain on the map indefinitely. Sources report a reset cycle between 4.5 and 5 minutes. During the reset, the map enters a brief "night" phase (roughly 10–13 seconds) where the map closes to players and all eggs grow 30x faster. Timing your runs around this cycle can help you capitalize on larger, higher-value spawns before they reset.

Player Interference & Server Strategy

Steal an Egg includes direct PvP tools designed to disrupt opponents carrying valuable eggs: - **Baseball Bats:** Trigger a ragdoll effect that flings other players away, forcing them to drop their egg. - **Bear Traps:** Placed on the ground, these trap a player for five seconds and automatically cause them to drop their carried egg. - **Tackling:** Players can physically intercept and steal eggs from opponents before they reach base.

Servers hold up to seven players. Because egg spawns are shared and competition for high-value eggs is intense, some players use a server-takeover strategy: logging in with multiple accounts to occupy slots, ensuring that all high-tier egg spawns go unchallenged. While effective, this requires managing multiple accounts and does not replace the need for sufficient speed to bypass guardians.

Pet Index, Trails & The Rift Event

The Pet Index tracks every discovered species and provides speed and money boosts for completing entries. Total pet counts vary by source and update frequency, ranging from 78 standard egg pets to 127 when including limited-egg variants. New pets typically arrive with weekly Saturday updates.

**Trails** are cosmetic upgrades that leave an animated effect behind your character and provide a passive speed boost. There are 10 Trails available, ranging from Common to Divine rarity. Because speed gates biome access, equipping higher-tier Trails is a practical progression step rather than purely aesthetic.

**Limited Eggs** (such as Brainrot Eggs) do not spawn in standard biome nests. They are only available through the in-game Store for Robux or special events like Admin Abuse.

**Update 3 (September 9, 2026) introduced the Rift event:** - A Rift featuring the Abyss Overlord boss opens every 30 minutes, preceded by a 30-second warning. - The Rift Machine in the lobby consumes three requested pets to generate a Riftborn (45% chance), Riftbeast (35%), or Shattered Rift (20%) egg. - Three Rift banners, collectively holding 15 exclusive pets, rotate globally every three hours.

**Hatch times** scale with egg size, weight, mutation, and active growth boosts. Forest eggs typically hatch in roughly 30 seconds, mid-biome eggs in a few minutes, and Secret/Eternal/Divine eggs in several hours (a Divine Unicorn egg reported taking 12 hours). Huge or heavily mutated endgame eggs can require 12–36 hours or longer to fully hatch.
