Overview

The Treadmill is a progression machine in *Steal an Egg*. It trains Speed, which helps players reach later biomes and carry eggs back to base. Standing on the Treadmill banks Speed continuously, and upgrading it with in-game cash raises the amount of Speed produced per use. Pet income funds these upgrades, creating the central loop of the game: steal eggs, hatch pets, generate cash, and invest in the next Treadmill level.

Treadmill Upgrade Costs and Output

Treadmill upgrades are paid with in-game cash and increase the training bonus per step. The table below reflects costs and output as reported by LOLGA in September 2026. The list is a September snapshot, not a complete current catalog. A later community reference lists an Astral treadmill beyond Angelic and reports a different Hacker price from another guide; we have not independently checked the current in-game shop. From Level 6 onward, the cost grows much faster than the training bonus. LOLGA notes that Levels 7 through 10 are long-term investments where the cost multiplies far faster than the bonus per step. These late-game levels are typically reserved for players who are already deep into high-income pet setups and can sustain the massive cash requirements.

Prioritizing Treadmill vs. Pen

Treadmill and Pen upgrades draw from the same cash pool, making prioritization critical. LOLGA recommends upgrading the Treadmill first in almost all cases. Speed is the prerequisite for unlocking new biomes and better eggs; without sufficient Speed, additional pet slots cannot generate higher income because you cannot access the zones that produce valuable pets.

The Pen increases the number of pet slots available for passive income, starting at 7 slots at Level 1 and reaching 18 slots at Level 11 MAX, with costs ranging from 1K up to 500T. LOLGA advises upgrading the Pen only once your Treadmill already clears your current biome gate and your strong pets are backed up with no open slots. If both systems feel stalled, the recommendation is to steal a higher-value egg first to boost income, then reassess.

Optimizing Speed Progression

Speed gates every biome, and meeting the minimum requirement is only the baseline. Eldorado's biome progression tips emphasize that carrying an egg reduces movement speed, so players should keep training past a biome's minimum speed to ensure safe escapes, especially with heavier eggs. Eldorado also suggests multitasking by staying on the Treadmill while watching videos or performing other tasks to maximize passive banking time.

Free Speed Sources New accounts can accelerate early progress with free rewards. Joining the official *Steal an Egg* community group grants a one-time reward of 10,000 free Speed claimed through the in-game rewards panel, which clears the earliest biome gates instantly. Additionally, the Index system pays Speed and cash rewards for hatching a pet species for the first time, with bonuses scaling based on the pet's rarity. GameBoost advises claiming the group reward before doing anything else to free up early cash for Treadmill upgrades.

Trails and Multipliers Trails apply a Speed multiplier on top of the base Speed produced by the Treadmill.
